Pippa Burley is a Lewes based figurative sculptor, selling her work widely in the South East for 25 years. Always working in clay, Pippa works both from life, and through informed imagination, firing some pieces, and casting others into Ciment Fondue. Focusing on the humanity of each subject, Pippa’s work expresses an inner thoughtfulness combined with a robust understanding of the human form.

Her powerful pieces leave you observing in silence. The big questions of what is to be human are silently asked, as her masterful play on proportions which elongate the faces of her studies leave them feeling half human, half something beyond.
